Dear Esteemed Delegates and Guests, 

My name is Olivia Zhao, and I am honored to serve as the Secretary-General for the Valley Regional Model United Nations (VRMUN) 2025, alongside my incredible team of 100+ Secretariat, Chairs, and General Staff. On behalf of the VRMUN team, I am delighted to welcome you to the 6th annual VRMUN conference at Granada Hills Charter High School. This year, we’ve worked meticulously to craft the most diverse set of committees yet for our delegates: seven General Assembly Bodies and four Specialized and Crisis Bodies!

In 2020, our first ever installment of VRMUN was created with the hope of providing a stimulating Model United Nations experience for middle and high school delegates across the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles County. I was lucky enough to have attended VRMUN 2020. This conference ignited my passion for MUN, and has shaped my journey ever since. VRMUN empowers: for novices, like my once-hesitant 7th-grade-self, the lively and supportive environment created by our chairs encourages delegates to step out of their comfort zones, prioritizing personal growth and confidence in their abilities. And don’t worry, there’s a place for everyone: for seasoned delegates, I’m proud of the way that VRMUN challenges and hones existing skills, whether through critical-thinking or public speaking—all fostered by dynamic, riveting debates. Most importantly, our Secretariat and Staff are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of diplomacy and creativity, both inside and outside of committees. I am confident that VRMUN will shatter your expectations, just as it has mine in the past 6 years of participating—as a delegate, staff, and secretariat. I can’t wait to see you debating the effects of technology on mental health in WHO, presenting your case on aerial herbicide spraying in the ICJ, or navigating the chaos of Ragnarok in our Crisis committee, and making your mark in every session. Let’s make history together at VRMUN 2025!
